Class Types

Traditional Yoga Classes

We teach both yoga and non-yoga classes at So IN Body.  Our yoga classes honor the roots and lineage of where & who yoga comes from.  We do this by including some or all of the following in our classes:  yoga asana (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), meditation, and teachings from some of the ancient texts of yoga including but not limited to, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and the Bhagavad Gita.

Level 0-1

Classes are for those anyone who is just beginning a yoga or movement practice in a group setting.  They are also for people who have limited movement because of an injury or stiffness.  Our Level 0-1 classes are very gentle, focusing on breath and slow, mindful movements.  These classes don't require a lot of getting up and down off the floor.  We use a lot of props to support our practice so that each person can find what they need to feel safe and stable in any movement or pose that we do.

Currently our Level 0-1 classes include:

Fridays at 9am &

Tuesdays at 9am (Nervous System Support for Women)

Non-Yoga Movement Classes

In our Non-Yoga Classes we focus on movement education through embodied anatomy and mindful, functional, movement that builds strength and mobility, in addition to confidence and competence in the body.  In these non-yoga classes, there will not be a focus on philosophy, teachings or practices that are specifically related to yoga.

Level 1

Classes are for beginners or those looking for a more basic practice.  For these classes it will be helpful if you are able to get up and down off of the floor without extra support from a chair or other person.  You will learn basic stretches and movements, as well as basic and slow strengthening exercises.  In yoga classes, we will do the foundational poses like standing, balancing poses, seated poses, and the basic sun salutation.  \

Currently our Level 1 Yoga & Movement classes include:

Wednesdays at 6:30pm with Katarina.

Level 1-2

Classes are for those who are active in life.  It is helpful if you have a regular exercise practice or have taken a Level 1 Foundational class first, but it is not necessary as we offer modifications for different abilities in every class.  In this class we will start to offer slightly more complex and challenging movements and poses.  We will work on balance, strength and mobility.  In our Level 1-2 Yoga classes, we will do Sun Salutations in most classes, as well as standing, balancing and seated poses.  In Level 1-2 Yoga we also start to introduce more twists and backbending poses.

Currently our Level 1-2 classes include:

Mondays at 6pm

Wednesdays at 5pm

Level 2

Classes are for those who have been practicing yoga for at least 6 months and have ample experience with all of the basic standing, balancing, backbending, twisting and seated poses.  These classes will be challenging, even for those who have a fitness or yoga background.  In non-yoga classes we will work on building strength throughout the whole body  in a variety of ways, while also including some cardio exercises.  In yoga classes, more complex poses such as arm balances and deeper backbends & twists will be introduced.

We are not currently offering any Level 2 classes.
